letters to juliet

Letters to Juliet is another film which stars one of my favorite actress..Amanda Seyfried. The story runs in the life of a fact checker who aspires in becoming a writer, Sophie Hall who had a pre-honeymoon before her marriage with her amazing chef boyfriend Victor.

Victor is very enthusiastic about, and busy with, finding the best wines and cheeses for his restaurant and, to Sophie's disappointment, hardly has time for her. While he is out one day, Sophie goes sightseeing and comes across the house where Juliet Capulet supposedly lived and watches in awe as numerous people gather to write letters to Juliet about their loves and post them on Juliet's Wall. Sophie writes of this in her journal and sits on a bench for a few hours, waiting for closing time, to see what becomes of the letters. A young Italian woman comes to collect the letters, putting them all into a straw basket, and Sophie follows her to a restaurant where the woman meets with three other women, who reveal themselves to be "Juliet's secretaries", writing back to each of the letters. The next day, Sophie helps Isabel, one of the secretaries, take the letters. A loose brick falls, and behind it is a crumpled envelope. Sophie discovers it is a 1957 letter written by Claire, an English woman who, while in Italy studying art, fell in love with Lorenzo Bartolini. When he asked her to run away with him, she did not show up and wrote to Juliet about it. Sophie writes back.

A few days later, a young English man arrives, Charlie (Chris Egan), revealing that because Sophie responded his grandmother is now here to find her love. When Sophie asks to meet Claire, Charlie says no, but Sophie follows him and is introduced to Claire (Vanessa Redgrave) who is more than happy to meet "Juliet". Together, the three decide to embark on a journey to find all the Lorenzo Bartolinis near Siena, Italy a place that Claire says Lorenzo always enjoyed. The three meet many Lorenzo Bartolinis, but none of them seem to be the right one, as Claire says she’ll be able to see who Lorenzo is through his blue eyes.

Traveling, Sophie and the grandmother and grandson learn about each others’ lives like that Charlie has an ex-girlfriend he hasn't seen in a year, named Patricia, with Claire learning that Sophie's mother abandoned her when she was nine and Sophie learning that Charlie's parents died in a car crash when he was ten. Charlie, at first rude, is now attracted to her, but Sophie is standoffish. The three meet many men named Lorenzo Bartolini, and also visit the grave of one who has died. Seeing his grandmother cry, Charlie blames Sophie, telling her she doesn't know what real loss feels like. Claire berates her grandson and tells him about Sophie's mother, then she visits Sophie in her hotel room and comforts her. Charlie apologizes to Sophie who has gone out and laid down on the grass next to Charlie, and they kiss under the stars.

The next day, while driving back, Claire asks that they stop at a vineyard when she notices it is the vineyard that makes their favorite wine. There, she sees a young Italian man who looks exactly like Lorenzo. Insisting it's him, Sophie and Charlie go and ask him of his name, which he says is indeed Lorenzo Bartolini. Deciding it must be Lorenzo's grandson, they ask to speak to the young man's father, whose name is also Lorenzo. The middle-aged man says his elderly father is also Lorenzo Bartolini, and he was out riding his horse. Charlie urges his grandmother to see if it's the right Lorenzo, but Claire decides she doesn’t want to. Just then, the elder Lorenzo (Franco Nero) arrives and is indeed Claire's long-lost love. The two reunite in a heartfelt embrace.

Lorenzo introduces the three to his family. Later, Sophie leaves to go back to Verona and Victor. Claire tells Charlie "not to wait fifty years" as he discovers there is only one girl he loves, Sophie. Charlie races after her but, seeing her embrace Victor, he leaves.

Back in New York, Sophie presents a story to her boss identical to Claire's tale, and he tells her he is going to publish it. Excited, she rushes home. The next day at work, she gets an invitation to Claire and Lorenzo's wedding that Saturday. She breaks up with Victor at the kitchen of his Italian restaurant, as their relationship is going nowhere. Sophie flies to Italy alone, hoping to meet Charlie there. However on arrival he is with Patricia, who Sophie presumes is his ex and after Claire reads out the letter Sophie originally wrote to her she runs away. Charlie chases and finds her on a balcony, where she tells him she's in love with him but he should go back to Patricia. Charlie reveals that there are in fact two Patricias and this one is his cousin and that he is in love with Sophie also. He climbs up the balcony to kiss Sophie (as Romeo was supposed to have done) but falls. She rushes down to see if he's all right and kisses him as Claire and Lorenzo look on happily followed by the other guests.

Splice

Honestly, Im not a fun of sci-fi movies because I actually find it boring out of reality stories but then since SPLICE is one of the movies on the pirated DVD collections I bought I decided to watch it too. To my surprise I appreciated the story of Splice.

By the way the movie stars the award winning actor Adrien Brody(Clive Nicoli) and Sarah Polley ( Elsa Kast) which co-stars Delphine Chanéac ( Dren). The story plots is as follows:

Superstar genetic engineers achieve fame by successfully splicing together the DNA of different animals to create incredible new hybrid animals. Now they want to use human DNA in a hybrid that could revolutionize science and medicine. But when the pharmaceutical company that funds their research, N.E.R.D., forbids it, Clive and Elsa secretly conduct their own experiments in the pursuit of even greater scientific discovery. They secretly blend human DNA with that of their creations, ignoring their society's ethical and legal boundaries.

The scientists name their creature Dren, who exceeds their wildest dreams; she begins to grow and learn at an accelerated rate. As their lab becomes exceedingly crowded, and the risk of Dren being discovered increases, they move Dren to Elsa's late mother's farm. Meanwhile, the original hybrid animals that they had created, which were originally mates, kill each other, as the female became a male and extremely hostile. Later on, after observing Dren closely, Clive discovers that Elsa used her own genes to create the creature, which by now has become amphibious, winged and omnivorous with a toxic sting. Elsa, who had formed a maternal bond with Dren, quickly changes her mind, cutting off her stinger and using it in medical experiments. As Dren grows, Clive is seduced by her and has sex with her, much to Elsa's disgust. When the pharmaceutical company realizes what had happened, they demand to see the subject. At Elsa's mother's farm, they are attacked by Dren, realizing that she had become a male, just like the original hybrid animals. After killing the two other scientists, Dren drags Clive into a freezing pond. Elsa pulls him out, but he is unconscious, so Elsa flees. Dren finds her, threatens her with his stinger, and rapes her. As Dren is raping Elsa, Clive comes to the rescue, impaling Dren with a large sharp branch. Dren quickly kills Clive with a toxic sting, but is killed by Elsa when she smashes Dren's head with a rock. Later on, Elsa is seen in the office of the pharmaceutical company's head and is given a mass amount of money in exchange for her silence and taking the experiment to the next stage. The head of the company then thanks Elsa for the personal risk that she is undergoing. Elsa stands up and is revealed to be pregnant.

The Last Song

Another touching movie from my favorite author Nicholas Sparks. A heart warming story about father-daughter's love for one another.

At seventeen, Veronica "Ronnie" Miller (Miley Cyrus) remains as rebellious as she was the day after her parents' ugly divorce and father's subsequent relocation to Georgia three years ago. Once a classical piano child prodigy under the tutelage of her father, Steve Miller (Greg Kinnear), Ronnie now rejects the instrument and has not spoken to her father since he left. While Juilliard School has been interested in her since she was young, Ronnie refuses to attend.

Now, Steve is given the chance to reconnect with his estranged daughter when her mother, Kim (Kelly Preston) sends the rebellious teen and her younger brother, Jonah (Bobby Coleman), to spend the summer with him. Steve, a former Juilliard School professor and concert pianist, now lives a quiet life in Tybee Island, the small Georgia beach town where he grew up, working on a stained glass window for the local church to replace the one the church lost in a fire.

Upon arrival, Ronnie is miserable, hostile and defensive toward all those around her, including handsome, popular Will Blakelee (Liam Hemsworth) – until, after both she and Will become involved in protecting a Loggerhead Sea Turtle nest, she discovers he is deeper than she believed. As Ronnie falls in love with Will, she also manages to form a better, stronger bond with her father. But then one day her father collapses with a coughing fit. Ronnie immediatley takes Steve to the hospital to realize that he had been diagnosed with cancer long before her summer visit. She decides to start spending more time with her father since he is not likely to live much longer. Around the same time Ronnie and Will get into a fight. And then Will leaves for college so there is no time to patch things up.

Steve has been working on a piece of music for quite a while, being the composer that he is. Fall comes and Jonah has to return to New York for the school year but Ronnie stays behind to take care of her father. Leading a slow life she tries to fill the three years of ignoring her father into a couple months. Finally, Steve's death comes along and Ronnie is heartbroken.

At his funeral she stands up to make a speech but declares that none of the speeches she wrote would ever be able to show how wonderful her father is. Instead, she finishes up the piece of music her father had been writing but never finished during his life.

After the funeral while Ronnie is talking to the attendants, she runs into Will. The two have a conversation and end up patching everything up. At the end of the movie Ronnie tells Will that she will be attending Juilliard for the second semester. Will surprises Ronnie by revealing that he will be transferring to Columbia the second semester also.

Noah Cooper, (Dax Shepard) a therapist gets fired from the office he has worked for, for many years. When he arrives home he finds his wife's cousin, Myron Stubbs, (Mike White) has moved in. Later that evening his mother, Marilyn (Diane Keaton) also arrives with her dogs and asks whether she can stay. Even though Noah is displeased, he allows Marilyn to stay. He discovers his mother has left his father, suspecting that he had an affair. He and Marilyn get hired at a carpet store, but because of Marilyn's stupid tasks both of them get fired. Meanwhile his relationship with his wife, Clare, (Liv Tyler) deteriorates and she subsequently leaves. Marilyn spies her husband and they have an encounter. Her husband, Gene (Ken Howard) confesses that he has tried to cheat on her twice. Noah's grandmother, Helen Cooper (Selma Stern) dies, and at the funeral Noah and Maryiln debate. Noah gets moved by his mother's words and realises that his decision not to have a baby was wrong and rushes to Clare to apologize. The film ends with Marylin and Myron moving in together elsewhere.

New In Town

A 2009 movie starred by Renee Zellweger and Harry Connick, Jr.

Lucy Hill (Renee Zellweger) is a high achiever shooting to become a Vice President. To show the President that she has the ability, she takes an assignment to restructure one of their small manufacturing plants in Minnesota. From the high life in Miami to the bitter cold, snow, and icy roads, Lucy must endure these hardships to succeed. Lucy is treated as an outsider when she arrives, and the locals give her a week before she leaves. Lucy is a fighter and wants to win. She meets Ted Mitchell (Harry Connick, Jr.) who is the union representative. At first, she has some conflicts with the workers, but soon they begin to accept her. The new product line is a bust, and she is ordered to close the plant and fire everyone. However, she has a better idea of making money for the company and saving everybody's job. Along the way, she finds something she didn't know she was looking for - "Love".

The Back Up Plan

I super enjoyed watching this movie I appreciate how open heartedly Stan accepts the baby of Zoe. Follow along the plot I've provided to have a short hint bout the story. It's a must seen movie..Thumbs up to Lopez and OLoughlin( Zoe and Alex).

The Back-up Plan is a comedy that explores dating, love, marriage and family in reverse.

After years of dating, Zoe (Jennifer Lopez) has decided waiting for the right one is taking too long. Determined to become a mother, she commits to a plan, makes an appointment and decides to go it alone. That same day, Zoe meets Stan (Alex OLoughlin) a man with real possibilities.

Trying to nurture a budding relationship and hide the early signs of pregnancy becomes a comedy of errors for Zoe and creates confusing signals for Stan. When Zoe nervously reveals the reason for her unpredictable behavior, Stan commits fully and says hes in. Never before has love seen a courtship where a wild night of sex involves three in a bed Stan, Zoe and the ever-present massive pregnancy pillow. Or, where date night consists of being the focal point at a near-strangers water birth which does for kiddie pools what Jaws did for swimming in the ocean. The real pregnancy test comes when both of them realize they really dont know each other outside of hormonal chaos and birth preparations. With the nine month clock ticking, both begin to experience cold feet. Anyone can fall in love, get married and have a baby but doing it backwards in hyper-drive could be proof positive that they were made for each other.

Reign Over Me

Reign Over Me is based on a true story about the 9/11 attacks two old friends who fell out of touch and are re-united in post-9/11 New York City.

Alan Johnson has everything he needs to get through life: a good job, a beautiful and loving wife, and their wonderful children. Yet he feels isolated because he finds having a hard-working job and managing a family too much to handle and has no one to talk to about it. Charlie Fineman, on the other hand, doesn't have a job or a family. He used to have both until a terrible loss, and the grief caused him to quit his job and isolate himself from everyone around him. As it turns out, Alan and Charlie were roommates in college, and a chance encounter one night rekindles the friendship they shared. But when Charlie's problems become too much to deal with, Alan is determined to help Charlie come out of his emotional abys.
